Website Design Process
At Design by Dutchess, I prioritize an efficient and transparent website design process. From the initial concept to the final launch, here’s what you can expect when working with me.
Step 1
Let’s Chat About Your Project
Free Consultation
During our consultation, we’ll review my client intake form together to provide you with an instant, itemized proposal. Each page of your website is individually priced, based on the unique value it brings to your overall site.
If you prefer a more flexible approach, we can work on an hourly basis via Zoom. Please set your expectations accordingly. It is a creative process.

Step 2
Prepare for Your Project
Secure Your Spot on the Designer’s Schedule
To move forward with our collaboration, please complete the following steps:
-
Approve Proposal & Submit Upfront Deposit Payment: Payments are processed securely through Wix's invoice system. You can pay using a credit card.
-
Provide Necessary Materials: I will send you a detailed outline specifying the content I need to begin your project. You are responsible for your content. I can help with it but you will have to check for spelling and grammer. Please submit all required materials, including text, images, and any other relevant assets.
-
Image Resources: Custom image/graphic/icon creation is not included in the website design pricing. However, we can access free images from Wix’s library, Pixabay.com, or Pexels.com. Alternatively, you can purchase premium images (~$3.16) and videos (~$16) on Shutterstock on Wix.
-
Grant Access to Your Existing Site (if applicable, for Redesigns only): If you already have a website, please provide access by following these instructions: Wix Support - Inviting People to Contribute to Your Site
Project Scheduling: Once I’ve received your payment and materials, your project start date will be scheduled. Work is completed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Step 3
Your Project Begins
First Draft Delivered in
2–5 Days
You can relax!
Step 4
Refine Your Design
Client Edits and Final Touches
An allotted amount of edit time is included in the project estimate. First page includes 2 hours of edits, with an additional 10 minutes allocated for every extra page.
If additional edits beyond the included time are needed, they will be billed at the hourly rate. Each project and client has unique needs, so the required edit time may vary.
I will implement necessary changes for each round of edits within three business days, pending availability.
To keep the project on track, client-provided edits must be submitted within one month.
Step 5
Finalize Your Project
Client Approval & Final Payment
Once you approve the design and confirm you are satisfied with the work, I will issue the final invoice. After the final payment is submitted, I will complete the SEO optimizations* and we will book a time for our final meeting.
*You will have the option to select a tier of Wix-based SEO packages that best suits your needs. You can also opt for no SEO.
Step 6
Launch Your Website
Go Live and Take Ownership
Final 1 Hour Zoom Screen Share Meeting Agenda
-
Transfer Ownership of Your New Site Design:
Ensure you are logged into your Wix account and Zoom before the meeting to facilitate transferring the new site design to your account. -
Connect/Reassign Wix Hosting Plan:
A credit card is required if you have not yet purchased a Wix Hosting Plan. If you already have a Wix hosting plan, we can reassign it to your new design during the meeting.
-
Connect Your Domain Name/URL/.com:
Be prepared to log into the account where your domain name is registered (supported platforms include Wix, GoDaddy, and NameCheap).-
If you are using a different host, additional time and costs may apply.
-
If you don’t have a domain, you can purchase one during the meeting. Wix offers a free 1-year domain with a new hosting plan. Please note that it may take up to 48 hours for your site to go live.
-
-
Domain and Hosting Fees:
These fees are separate from my design fee and are paid directly to Wix or your chosen provider. -
Google Search Connection Assistance:
Once your site is live, I will provide you with step-by-step instructions or guide you through the process of connecting your website to Google Search to enhance its visibility.
Your Website is Now Live!!
Your site is ready to welcome visitors, and from here on, you will have full ownership and management of your website.
Step 7
Ongoing Support
Hourly Rate Assistance and Training
Feel free to reach out if you need any additional services—I’ll be happy to assist you.
Optional Training:
I offer training sessions to help you update and maintain your new site design. These sessions can also address specific "how-to" questions about managing your Wix site.
Pay in advance to confirm your Zoom session or schedule work.

"Sophie has been a pleasure to work with. She’s created a site for me that was better than I anticipated. I literally even changed my business card colors to match what she did on the website 😁. The site is clean, easy to navigate, easy to read and gets the point across. She also walked me through the back end management and answered all of my questions. I will definitely look to her again if/when I need another site."
